BareBones Youth Past Production
Around the World with Class Six
by Nick Warburton
The Production
With just three weeks available for rehearsal and just two sessions a week, eight of our young people entered the Herefordshire One-Act Drama Festival with this clever little piece of theatre. The play takes a group of children in a classroom and, on finding a task set for them by an unconventional teacher, sees them transforming their desks and chairs into The Golden Hind and re-enacting Drake's circumnavigation of the earth. It's an exercise in fast paced physical theatre with enormous humour.
In the event these young people gave a wonderful performance and came away with both the novice award and the premier youth award, the Stennet Trophy, for the best youth production in the festival.
